How can you help or get involved with Soul Space?

Picture
Soul Space offerings would not be possible without the generosity of many organizations and individuals to support the development of Soul Space and to provide offerings and retreats to frontline street health and harm reduction workers at little to no cost.

We are grateful for grant funds received from the United Church of Canada (via First United Church, EDGE Network, and the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council). Soul Space is overseen by a Steering Committee appointed by the Church Council of First United, a committee that provides program oversight as well as duty of care and financial accountability.  100% of all donations directed to Soul Space are used for the programming of Soul Space.
How You Can Contribute to Soul Space
We welcome support in many ways, including offerings financial support, gifts for frontline workers, or sharing of your skills and abilities.

1. Make a financial donation to support Soul Space programs for street health and harm reduction workers
Financial donations are always needed and welcome in order to support frontline workers' participation in Soul Space offerings at no cost to them. Your financial contribution is tax-deductible and can be a one-time or ongoing pledge of support.

E-transfer donations can be sent to: treasurer@firstunitedchurchottawa.org (please include the designation "Soul Space"). No password is necessary - the deposit goes directly into the account. Acknowledgement of the donation will be made and tax-receipts issued in January. Cheques, made out to First United Church, with a cover note indicating the donation is for Soul Space can be mailed to: First United Church, 347 Richmond Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K2A 0E7.

2. Donate items to support frontline workers and the people that they care for
Items that are always welcome include:
  • Thank you cards (preferably hand written with a personal message of thanks to frontline workers)
  • Gift cards for coffee shops and grocery stores (for frontline workers and their clients)
  • Baked goods, meals, and/or coffee (for frontline workers)
  • N95 and other personal protective equipment (for clients)
  • New wool socks, finger and toe warmers (available at Canadian Tire, for clients)

3. Share your gifts and skills
Soul Space aims to meet the diverse needs and preferences for holistic wellbeing supports among frontline workers. If you would like to learn more about becoming a Soul Space Care Provider, please get in touch via the contact form below.

Additionally, we welcome help to support Soul Space in different ways, including but not limited to social media support, website maintenance, event promotion, grant writing & review, helping with transportation of frontline workers to retreats, catering, etc.
Please get in touch with us to discuss how your skills and offering(s) might fit within the range of Soul Space programs

4. Share your space
We are currently seeking a physical space in downtown Ottawa that can provide on-the-ground support for frontline workers (e.g., a drop-in centre, place to gather, connect, celebrate and to grieve). If you have space that you are willing to share or lease, please get in touch!
